For the ultimate weekend dedicated to Hollywood, which the whole family can enjoy, National Space Centre bring you their Movie Mania weekend. Held on the 22nd and 23rd September, Movie Mania will features favourite characters from the most iconic movies of all time. Join Will Turner for Pirate School, monkey around with the Apes, and lead a legion of Stormtroopers with Darth Vader.

Game of Thrones actor Mark Addy (King Robert Baratheon), who has also starred in Knight’s Tale and The Full Monty will be making an appearance on Saturday.

Joining Mark Addy on Saturday will be fellow Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones (Ser Loras Tyrell, The Knight of Flowers) who has also appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Present throughout the event will be the awesome UK Garrison, as they raise money for Help for Heroes and help create the ultimate family and fan weekend from the movies. Currently due to appear are:

Batman, Boba Fett, Captain America, Catwoman, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Iron Man, John Crichton (Farscape), Lara Croft (Tombraider), Neo, Predator, Princess Leia Organa (sadly not her wearing Return of the Jedi’s costume), Lt Col C Mitchell (Stargate SG1), The Bride (Kill Bill), The Joker Will Turner (Pirates of the Carribean), as well as a legion of Stormtroopers.

Finally, a courtyard of cars from the team at 911 Evac will greet you as you arrive (watch out for the “dirty stinking Ape” carwash team though).

I always make a point of attending the National Space Centre’s Movie Mania weekends. Their appeal lies not just in the special guests who are there, or the sheer exuberance by the costumers, but the atmosphere is simply amazing. Seeing Darth Vader in a muddy field seems passé after you have seen him striding past the two-stage Thor-Able rocket in their aptly named Rocket Tower.
