The PR machine for the remake of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven classic ‘Robocop‘ is warming up to promote the movie’s 2013 release. Directed by Brazillian filmmaker José Padilha, the RoboCop reboot will star Joel Kinnaman (The girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as RC2000 / Alex Murphy. Much more interestingly the cast also features Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, and that chap from quirky british comedy Blackadder; Hugh Laurie. In a casting move that will surprise absolutely no one; Laurie will play the evil Omni Corp CEO. Do you see what they did there? They went and cast the British Actor as the bad guy; classic. Still I have a lot of respect for Laurie and hopes for a show stealing performance a lá Alan Rickman as ‘Hans Gruber’ are high.
This viral teaser was released to accompany the launch of the new OmniCorp website (www.omnicorp.com) seems to be hitting all the right notes and showcased the welcome site of a lovely shiny-new ED-209.
Early concept images leaked to the net show RoboCop looking pretty damn similar to the that-guy-you-play from Crysis.
this was 1 of my favourite film when i was a kid. i cant wait to see what theyv done with it
