So, you don’t think you were casting about a bit of attitude when you accused me of either not knowing what I was talking about or flat-out bullshitting my way through my job? A job which, I’d like to point out, I do entirely in my spare time, without any pay whatsoever, purely because I’m a huge fan of the music I write about?

As for “where’s the music” – again, you seem to be ignoring the fact that there was a paragraph and a half’s worth of discussion and description of Amongst Carrion’s sound subsequent to the portion you quoted.

I’m always up for actual discussion about what people do and don’t like about bands, artists and genres – such discussion often serves to throw a sharper relief on exactly why I hold the views that I do, and I can always respect different opinions, even if I don’t share them. However, you’ve not entered into a discussion here. Instead of talking about how our opinions differ, you’ve chosen to entirely dismiss my viewpoint by claiming I’m either ignorant or negligent.

Oh, and you forgot to post your link. Who’s bullshitting their way through things now?

TK – I think doing a few of these Screen Tests has warped my perception of what constitutes a ‘quality’ metal video. So many of them consist of little more than shonkily-edited performance footage or generic gore/splatter scenarios that when something even half-decent or possessed of a hint of imagination comes along, I’m tempted to nominate it for an Oscar by comparison.

I’m confused – what exactly is Andrew trying to say? Hang on, don’t tell me…because I don’t care. Opinions are only valid if they’re backed up and yours clearly isn’t, as it doesn’t make sense.

I’m fairly certain that that sentence makes absolutely zero sense.

Anyway, that’s kind of a terrible video. It feels a little too much like a high school metalhead’s student film. But the band is decent, I suppose. Although I will guiltily confess that I enjoy some (SOME) clean vocals in metalcore acts.

Andrew, if you think Phil’s not doing his job, why don’t you submit an article of your own? Or did you just stick a pin into your screen and troll the first article you saw?

And most importantly, will you actually come back and read the responses, or are you just sat in your room rubbing your palms together and going “that’ll tell him!”

Ah, I love people who assume that ‘not sharing their exact opinion’ means ‘not knowing what you’re talking about’. It’s an age-old logical fallacy that crops up time and again on comment threads on the internet, and one that never fails to make the commenter look jumped-up and self-important.

Did you even bother reading further than the paragraph you quoted, where I detail the particular metalcore tropes that tend to turn me off which the band managed to avoid? Or were you too busy to hang around, choosing instead to continue Googling for four-month-old, tongue-in-cheek video review articles to bless with your piercing insight?

This makes you sound like you don’t know what your talking about or your just bs’ing by with your job. they clearly distinguish themselves to be part of the over-populated pack because they didn’t do anything beyond what the pack does. I saw all this in 2005.
