The Silence Is Coming – The Dr Who Experience At The Olympia 2

Quite possibly one of the scariest enemies in Doctor Who has arrived! Fortunately for us, their destination was The Doctor Who Experience in London’s Olympia 2 where they will be on display for fans of the show to admire.

First appearing in The Impossible Astronaut, producer Steven Moffat created The Silence intending them to be “scarier” than past villains in Doctor Who. Moffat drew inspiration from Edvard Munch’s painting “The Scream” as well as the Men in Black of urban mythology, and employed simple psychological conceits to enhance their frightening nature.

The Silence will be part of the walk-through element of The Doctor Who Experience, with fans able to encounter these terrifying monsters for the first time. Glimpse one of these creatures and you may feel slightly unsettled the moment it is out of view but the real question is – will you remember? The organisers assume no liability for memory loss…

The Doctor Who Experience is a fully interactive themed exhibition which invites visitors to step through a crack in time to become the Doctor’s companion on an adventure. The challenge is to reunite the Doctor with the TARDIS, whilst fending off threats including a Dalek spaceship and Weeping Angels along the way, before exploring the wonders of Doctor Who at an out-of-this-world exhibition. Amongst the exhibits there is something for both family and fans alike, with the largest collection of authentic Doctor Who props and artefacts – visitors will discover all of the previous Doctors’ iconic costumes, the original David Tennant TARDIS set, and even interactive lessons in how to walk like a Cyberman!

Tickets are available from The Doctor Who Experience, which can be found at London Olympia Two on Hammersmith Road: doors open daily from 10am until 6pm. Ticket prices start from £15.50 for adults and £12.50 for children. Please note that the exhibition includes monsters and scenes that younger children may find scary, so parental guidance is recommended.
