MvC3 is far closer to SFIV than either of those in terms of complexity – but you might get away with it for about half an hour.

May have to join you in a purchase of this, Will – the screenshots actually made my willy feel funny, and ‘er indoors may actually play this. SFIV is too much for her, but she always liked Tekken and Soul Calibur – MvC3 should hit the same button I think.

I will still get it, just to have a boner over the art style. I’m a sucker for any game that says KABOOM.

I usually pick them up on sale anyway – for lonely solo play or the lengthy trek to Rob’s lair. My wife will play me at Worms Armageddon but draws the line at Capcom fighters – she likes Mortal Kombat.

I’ve enjoyed a fair amount of single player (even if the final boss is incredibly cheap), but probably not a day-one purchase if you’re not going to get a lot out of multiplayer.

It still gets a bit spammy, but I’m yet to see anything you can’t overcome without being clever about it. And hey – if someone finds an exploit, it can be patched away these days.

Great review, you’ve almost sold me on this one, despite spending years turning my nose up at the second game as a button basher for projectile spammers.

It looks like a lot of fun – I just can’t motivate myself to play fighters online though. Maybe if I didn’t live miles from anywhere I’d get more out of local multiplayer titles.
