EA Spoofs Call of Duty with free downloadable ‘Duty Calls’

In a bid to promote the hilariously (if you’re 12) over-the-top Bulletstorm EA have released a hilarious (see before) downloadable game pointing out just how dull military shooters have become. Presumably no-one told EA that they publish military shooters, but that’s by the by. Also, to be fair to EA, this is funnier than all of the Scary Movie films put together.

You can see a playthrough of the game below.

Considering the handbags-at-30-paces bitchfight the two megapublishers have been engaged in since the dawn of time, you’ve got to wonder whether this is the smartest move for EA. Still, if it sells a few more copies of Bulletstorm and so contributes to the end of the grey-brown smear of identikit shooters we’ve been treated to over the last five years, it’s something I’m sure we can all get behind.

You can download a copy here.

Haha! Not a 1st person master sergeant shooter person myself – i am a girl after all – but this spoof is better than any of the COD stylegames I’ve tried

    “Boring. Boring. Boring!”

This is surprisingly spot-on, and it’s good EA are able to laugh at themselves. Either that, or they’re still under the illusion that Medal of Honor: Modern Warf…erm, Recent Conflicts was excellent.

Bulletstorm looks to be one to watch; it’s a very bold amount of marketing they’re shoving behind it and I just hope it winds up decent.

The Bulletstorm demo only raises the question of whether it will remain entertaining over the course of a full game, really – decent fun, though.
This got an actual genuine LOL from me – well observed and wickedly accurate.
