OneMetal.com REVIEW:
Die So Fluid – The World Is Too Big For One Lifetime

Dangerous, voluptuous, sexy, delicious… and that’s just Die So Fluid front woman Georgina ‘Grog’ Lisee on the cover of DSF’s latest offering, ‘The World Is Too Big For One Lifetime’. But what we need to do, is tear ourselves away from the damn hot packaging tell you how good the album is.

‘TWITBFOL’ marks the third outing for DSF with ‘Grog’ (bass/vocals) teaming up with Drew Richards and Al Fletcher on guitars and drums respectively and whats more it’s an attitude soaked snorter of a disc. DSF have been around since 2001 and they now have a wealth of experience to lean on. As an album it oozes cool and style with its roots lodged firmly in punk tinged pop/rock.

DSF throw huge chunky riffs from the start. ‘Figurine’ is an in your face punk infused confident opener, before launching into the hugely infectious ‘Mercury’ carves itself into your brain. Grog’s vocal talents are showcased throughout, ranging from downright sultry and soaring on the likes of title track ‘The World Is Too Big For One Lifetime to attitude drenched yelps with ‘If Wishes Were Bullets’ and ‘Hearts Are Hollow’. Vocally she is like a cross between 4 Non Blondes ‘Linda Perry’ and L7‘s Donita Sparks.

As a whole album this is one that will leave you reaching for repeat as it’s short and snappy and leaves you wanting more… however, you may end up reaching for repeat before the album finishes because of the bloody annoying 22 minute album closer.

Personally I really hate ridiculously long closing tracks with “secret songs” on them. ‘Sound In Colour’ lasts around four minutes… you then need to hang on a further 15 minutes of silence before you get to hear a vocal/piano track that sticks two fingers up to Amy Lee . Its a real shame, because it is a totally enchanting track that would not be out of place if it had come from Within Temptation, but I’m not prepared to hang around for 15 minutes of silence each time.

Bottom Line

This is an album tighter than one of Grog's catsuits and marks a massive leap forward from 2008's rather linear 'Not Everyone Gets A Happy Ending'. Hopefully it could be the one that really thrusts Die So Fluid forward and gives them the recognition they deserve.
