A missing writer who worked on cult 80s cartoon Thundercats has been murdered, Florida police have announced.
Stephen Perry, 56, from Zephyrhills, Florida, vanished after leaving hospital where he was being treated for terminal bladder cancer. The writer, who wrote seven episodes of the cartoon and also worked on animated series Silverhawks and Marvel Comics Timespirits, had been missing for two weeks when police found his van containing a “severed body part” – which unconfirmed sources claimed was a human arm – parked at a Tampa motel.
Perry’s roommates, husband and wife James Davis, 46, and Roxanne Davis, 49 have been confirmed as “people of interest” by local police and are currently being held on drug and probation violation charges after a search of the home they shared revealed the property to have been ransacked.

In spite of his early successes, the author posted a message on fan-run website Thundercats Lair in late December 2007, where he explained he was homeless and living in a van, was suffering from cancer, and asked readers to donate money to help him care for his 5 year old son.
Why did it have to be a Thundercats writer? Why couldn’t it have been the writer of The Racoons? I loved Thundercats and not just because of the weird homoerotic overtones and the fact that the Lion-O toy had a realistic wanking arm. Silverhawks was rubbish though.
