OneMetal.com NEWS:
Lords of Shadow Dominates New Territory

Are you prepared to whip and magically cast Dracula across vast stretches of, well, 3D expanse? The new screenshots and artwork batch uploaded today suggests a bigger, denser world for gamers to explore. But can the developers and the assisting Kojima Productions rework the aging series into a hot-blooded successor?

Castlevania, as fans already know, heavily focuses on the lengthy Belmont-Dracula strife. The following screenshots portray the upcoming game as part God of War, part … Shadow of Colossus?

Over the years, the games have shed their identity as side-scrolling, 2D adventures (Simon’s Quest, Symphony of the Night) riddled with skeletons and twitchy bats and evolved into somewhat more flexible yet still relatively linear castle explorers (Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness). Lords of Shadow seems to defy such boundaries: But will the installment stray too far from its classic formula and concoct a hybrid nature, or will the game refresh a stale franchise?

Either way, this fan is eager to devour more screens and hopefully soon, gameplay videos. Lords of Shadow presently lacks a release date, but PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are still confirmed.

What do you think? Should the Belmonts have never escaped their two-dimensional confines, or are Konami and Kojima finally co-steering Castlevania in a better direction?
