The popular 2002 Walt Disney Pictures film, Lilo and Stitch, just won’t let go of its extraterrestrial steam. The blue-headed, hyperactive alien affectionately known as Stitch will pop up again in a new game announced late yesterday by Disney Interactive Studios. Named Disney Stitch Jam for its rhythm-based theme, the side-scrolling concoction for the Nintendo DS is scheduled to hit North American shores in March of 2010.
In his quest, Stitch roams from white-sand beaches to sprawling forests, frozen cities, and the farthest galactic reaches in order to save his girlfriend, Angel, who has been kidnapped by the nefarious Dr. Hamsterviel. Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing at DIS, promises an interactive romp bursting with “catchy music, dynamic characters, and fun environments”—topped off with a reported “high replay value.” The musical undertaking sounds worthy enough and pitches a generous deal, as well. Tailored for a younger audience, players have the convenience of utilizing either the traditional handheld console buttons or the newer Nintendo stylus as they catch, shoot, and round up musical notes to compose stage-clearing melodies in ten different missions. A download-ready co-operative mode allows for two-player entertainment without the need of a second cartridge, and customizable bonuses ranging from costumes to accessories can be unlocked during gameplay. Upon completion, Story Mode grants access to a Free Mode boasting playable characters such as Angel, Reuben, and Felix.
Rated E for Everyone with Comic Mischief, Disney Stitch Jam is developed by Cattle Call. Enjoy the bundle of press screens below!
