If you can cast your mind back to Christmas Day, amongst the many offerings on the television that day was Neil Gaiman’s Statuesque. Written and directed by Gaiman the eight minute silent film stars Bill Nighy and Amanda Palmer in what seems a venerable take of the legend of Pygmalion, the sculptor who fell in love with a statue craved from ivory.
I’m not too sure how long this may be up for, but regardless of the Gaiman pedigree, this is a wonderfully charming and affectionate short that definitely deserves a look-see. Enjoy!
Personally, I would rather have my Christmas Day filled with the above and similar, such as the charming ‘The Gruffalo’, than the dross that is generally trotted out…
