OneMetal.com NEWS:
Australia get Left 4 Dead 2 without the nasty stuff

As we reported in September (No Zombies For Australia : Left For Dead 2 Is Banned ) Left 4 Dead 2 got refused classification in Australia. So naturally Valve appealed, and predictably they lost. So now they have a special censored version just for those sensitive types at the Australia Classification Board. Let’s see how censored it really is and how easily you can uncensor it yourself.

  • No Gore: When you shoot an Infected to you see a small splash of blood. You will not see any “gibs” at all.
  • No Blood Spatter: You will not see blood spattering on the screen.
  • No Dismemberment: You cannot shoot or melee any limbs, including the head, off an Infected.
  • No Corpses: As soon as they’re dead, Infected bodies will disappear.
  • No Burning: Infected will not catch fire from, for example, a molotov. They will, however, still die.
  • No Riot Cop: The “riot cop” Uncommon Infected will not spawn at all. In fact, if just one player on the server is running the Australian edition, the “riot cop” will not spawn at all.

Its so very sad that they needed to do this to get there game released. It would have be nice if we had lived in a world were Valve stood on principle, and didn’t release the game on OZ. Then hordes of not-undead fans would have swamped the offices of the Australia Classification Board until the caved in like the skull of a petrified corpse, and gave them the full fat version of the game that want. Sadly we aren’t in that world. We are however in a world where people have already worked out how to hack the demo that was released yesterday, to put back all the things that were taken out. Whether the simple exploit will still be as accessible when the full version is released who knows. If it is I sense the words ‘hot’ and ‘coffee’ may leap together, as yet again a company is drawn over hot coals as a result of content that’s not really part of the game ‘as intended’. More so if they find a gay-zombie-love sex mini game that’s hidden somewhere in the code… I can hear Bill now ‘I hate gay-zombie-love’.. well that’s OK Bill… we hate you, and you aren’t even in this game.

Aww man.. harsh dude. Not there fault that the Australia Classification Board are run by grumpy old women. Although the total lack of desensitization will mean in a few years all Australians will pass out at the site of a nose bleed…. which will be funny .
