Steve Holt, 36 Crazyfists

OneMetal:So he’s not producing, have you ever thought of using him for that?

Steve:Yeah we have, but I generally co-produce our stuff and I’m going to do the entire next record next time, and then just come over here and mix it with Andy. Just skip the middle man there.

OneMetal:Plus you can’t get away from the Derbyshire countryside and there’s some good pubs there.

Steve:Yeah yeah damn right there is there(laughing) we definitely spend time down at the local pub.

OneMetal:Brock’s been quoted as saying that he really hates the recording process, how do you stand on that ?

Steve:Yeah, I know he hates it, Thomas hates it too, Micks alright with it and I love it. I have a studio at home and I record bands when I’m at home so that’s what I do when I am not doing this band. I’m a studio junkie I love it.

OneMetal:So if you are recording bands and stuff, who should we watch out for ?

Steve:In this Moment is a really good band, I didn’t record them but they’re a really good band. My merch guy Jake has a band called Rose Moyer, theyre going to take off! Who else is there. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

OneMetal:What’s your verdict on the music scene at the moment , the metal scene?

Steve:Erm, The whole metalcore thing is getting pretty watered down, so that will have to die eventually.(laughing) Not that I don’t like it, it’s just one of those things, suddenly it’s popular and you get a million copycat bands, and the Emo thing I didn’t like to start with so I don’t know where that’s going to go (laughing).

OneMetal:Downwards pretty soon I would think. Everyone seems to be pretty much compared to being a Killswitch clone as they seem to be the ones who have set the pace. Even Twelve Tribes have been compared, and I don’t see it.

Steve:Yeah yeah, I don’t see that one either, but I can see where a lot of it is as Killswitch kind of started the whole thing.

OneMetal:Talking of Twelve Tribes, do you get any say on who supports you ?

Steve:Yeah we picked Twelve Tribes. I love them man this is like our fourth tour with them, we’re all like one big band, its kind of cool.
